Winter Survival Skills
This exciting outdoor adventure will teach your kids how to prepare before going out into winter weather, and the four basics of survival: warmth, shelter, food and water. Throw in a healthy dose of outdoor games and some hot cocoa, and this activity day promises to be lots of frosty fun!
Monday March 13th to Friday, March 17th
Spring Break Day Camps
Our March Break activity camps will feature fun and interactive outdoor activities for kids that will reconnect kids with the natural world around us. Each day will feature a different stimulating and fun theme: The Magnificent Maple (forest hike and maple syrup), Forest Fables (interactive storytelling), The Forest Awakens (signs of animals coming out of hibernation and migration); Nature’s Palette (shadow puppetry and spirit masks) and I’m Seeing Green (first signs of spring).
PA Day – Friday, April 28th
A Day of Tree Play
Norfolk County is southern Ontario’s Forest Capitol. We have a large diversity of tree species, many found only in the Carolinian Life Zone we live in. This outdoor activity day will feature a day of playing in the forest amongst the trees. Children will learn how to identify species and their importance in nature, how to build shelters, and participate in forest games and crafts.
PA Day – Friday, June 9th
Survival of the Fittest
Today, children will learn about how natural selection in the natural world results in plants and animals evolving adaptations to outwit, outplay, and outlast. Using fun and competitive outdoor games we will create scenarios in which kids will work in groups to act out and come up with solutions to beat the elements together. It’s a nature-based version of the popular reality TV show “Survivor” that will be a hit with your child(ren).
Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in July and August.
Nature’s Calling Eco-Adventure Camps
Our unique outdoor summer day camps emphasize experiential inquiry-based learning. Campers spend most of their time outside, observing nature up close using tools like binoculars, magnifying lenses and insect nets. Science concepts are introduced in a fun environment, with crafts, games and hands-on activities. Weekly nature themes drive the ecology focus of the camp, and are used as a catalyst for children to learn & experience the world around them. As the week goes on and children become more familiar with the staff and the facility, the activities shift into child-directed play and learning with the focus on creating a meaningful individual experience for each child and our groups as a whole.
Nature’s Calling Environmental Education is an incorporated not-for-profit and charitable organization.
